My Top 6 Role Models

Hello lovies!

So today, I will be talking about role models. A role model is a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated. Having a role model is a really wonderful thing as it makes us all work a little harder to become better people and makes us want to become role models to others. In no particular order Here is a list of my top 6 role models!

1. Zendaya Coleman

In Her Own Words: My wearing my hair in locs on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough.

Zendaya has definitely got to be on this list! Not only is she a triple threat with singing, dancing and acting at the age of only 19, she is also a great role model with the morals she keeps. She shuts down haters who spit out derogatory and discriminatory remarks and is always ready to remind people of how amazing they are because of her big heart. We could all learn a lot of lessons from Zendaya!
Be sure to check Zendaya out on her new show K.C. Undercover!

2. Amandla Sternberg

In Her Own Words:End the "angry black girl" narrative. It's just another attempt to undermine certain perspectives.

Amandla is the definition of who everyone should want to be. She is only 16 years old but everyone has learnt how passionate she is about maintaining her identity and making sure others don't use somebody else's culture and struggle for a cute Instagram picture. (We're talking about you Kylie, Miley and Katy!) When I see Amandla, I see intelligence, strength and ultimate confidence. I definitely am going to take some life tips from her.
You have to watch the full video of Amandla explaining cultural appropriation!

3. The Janoskians

In Their Own Words: Haters gonna hate, tomatoes gonna tomate, potatos gonna potate and dogs gonna bark.

Okay, so these guys are a bit different from everyone I've mentioned but they are definitely worthy of their place on this list of my role models. The Janoskians (Luke, Jai and Beau Brooks, Daniel Sayhounie and James Yammouni) are so confident it's scary! From dancing with strangers on the train to getting into a bath full of snakes; these guys are willing to do anything, no matter how embarrassed and how much pain we feel for them! They are also always there to remind their fans how beautiful they are and who wouldn't want a career of hanging out with their best friends? They are on this list because one day I want to be able to be as fearless as them!
Go and subscribe to the Janoskians now and be more fearless!

4. Princess Tiana

In Her Own Words: The ONLY way to get what you want in this world is through hard work.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, she's not real; but Princess Tiana is the hardest working person I know. She never stopped working to get her restaurant even when it seemed like it was never going to happen in a million years. Even when she became The Princess of Maldonia, she didn't let the riches go to her head and she opened her restaurant. Tiana always wanted to make her parents happy and was ready to do anything to reach her goal. I think we all need a little Tiana in us, right?
If you haven't watched The Princess and The Frog, what are you waiting for?

4. Nia Sioux Frazier

In her own words: When those things happen you just need to stay strong, keep your head up, just hope for the best.

This girl is only 14 years old and is so intelligent, mature and well spoken! Even when mean Miss Abby tries to break her, Nia remains calm and remembers she is much better than someone who starts arguments and attempts to take other people's happiness. She has such a big heart and a positive attitude to everything! We could learn a lot from this blossoming young lady!
Nia has two songs out now! Go and have a listen to Slay and Star in Your Own Life!

5. Holly Frazier

In Her Own Words: No matter how much I want Nia to succeed in life if she's not a good person, then I have failed.

Obviously Holly has to be on this list as she raised such an amazing daughter! When I have a child I want to be as good of a mother as Holly is! Holly is never afraid to stand up to Abby and defend her daughter and the other kids in the dance company. She speaks her mind and is never shy to tell someone when they are wrong about something. Holly is very respectful and makes sure she puts her daughter's happiness before Abby's. Can we say Mom Goals!

You can see more of Holly on Dance Moms!

6. Tyra Banks

In Her Own Words: Never dull your shine for somebody else.

Tyra Banks is dedicated to making people feel beautiful in the skin they're in. Not only is she an amazing at reminding people they're flawsome (awesome with your flaws) she is a successful businesswoman who is always ready to give. Tyra is like the best friend we all want to be and she's never afraid to be a little weird and work her flaws too.
You can see Tyra on Cycle 22 of ANTM and on her new show FABLife!

So is there anyone on this list you recognize? Who are your role models? Tell me in the comments below! Don't forget to follow my blog and share if you want to!

A Depressed State of Mind

Hello lovies!

Did you know depression affects an estimated 350 million people around the world? Did you know 11% of teenagers have an ongoing depressive disorder by the age of 18. Did you know self harming statistics for the UK show one of the highest in Europe? (400 per 100,000 population)

Depression is a real disorder that isn't just you being sad for a while but is an ongoing feeling of melancholy and dejection. Often people don't know when someone has depression because they're probably not going to talk about it. Having depression is the worst thing because if not dealt with it can cause death and extreme self hatred. Many things cause depression. It could be a traumatising or stressful event; being abused or bullied;maybe just having an extremely low self esteem or self image.

The first step to getting rid of depression is realising that you don't want to feel that way anymore and that you have the opportunity to be so much better than you are now. Find someone who is closest to you; someone you can really trust and you believe will be able to help you. Tell them how you are feeling and it could really help you because it's not all stored inside for you to think about. If you really feel the need to, talk to a therapist and it could be really useful and helpful as they know how to make you feel happy and proud to be you. Figure out why you are depressed and if there is anything you can do to stop yourself feeling this way. There is always an answer, just think when you are at the lowest place you can only go upwards.

Change your diet, your hair, your style! Have a makeover that makes you feel gorgeous and is true to who you are. Having a healthy diet is really a good idea as unhealthy foods are know to relate more to symptoms of depression. If you are able to look in the mirror everyday and say to yourself 'I LOOK AMAZING AND I KNOW IT' it will really boost your self image and esteem! Don't try to make yourself look like other people and don't dull your look down because you are scared about what other people think. Who cares about those irrelevant people. What's important is you and how you feel about yourself!

Let me tell you something about bullies. They're ignorant, insecure, malicious and horrible people. Who are they to make you feel sad or ugly? You are so much better than them because you are willing to make things better. I tell you this from experience people who go out of their way to make someone's life miserable obviously have a problem themselves that they need to deal with and you having something they don't is making them take it out on you. So what, they're "prettier", "richer", "more popular"? These things will all fade away one day, but the one thing that can't fade is your confidence in telling them what they are. Mean. Nobody in this world should have the right to make you feel a certain way without your permission. High school for them is a popularity contest while for you it's a learning experience meaning you'll go on to do bigger and better things. Just wait and see. We are all humans on this earth that doesn't belong to us so people who believe they are the best thing since sliced bread really need to take several seats! Remember to stand up for yourself because a day will come when you will never see these people again so they shouldn't be able to make such a big difference in your life.

Finally if you are ever having thoughts of committing suicide stop right there! This life was not given to you so you could end it prematurely. Something is coming, something amazing and if you don't wait you'll never be able to be happy again. You my friend are too beautiful, kind, intelligent and wonderful to not be on this earth. Things will get better I promise. There is no way you were brought here to continually suffer. Believe me if you wait you'll be so happy and thankful! Find help from somebody and in a while you'll thankful you are still here to witness all the good happening in your life.
